Assay Principle & Calculation

The kit works on a colorimetric detection principle, where the hemoglobin concentration is measured at specific optical density (OD).

Calculation formula :

Where:

• OD_SAMPLE = OD of the test sample
• OD_CALIBRATOR = OD of the hemoglobin calibrator
• OD_BLANK = OD of water (blank)
• 100 mg/dL = equivalent concentration of the diluted calibrator
• n = dilution factor

Conversions:

• 1 mg/dL Hb = 0.156 µM
• 1 mg/dL Hb = 0.001%
• 1 mg/dL Hb = 10 ppm
